This addition started because a roof repair was needed and the front door was 12' below the curb line making the drive slope down into the garage. The owner considered the cost of all the repairs they wanted to do and that they didn't want to leave their Iowa River view, so they decided to add to the top of the existing residence, bringing the top floor of the house to street level. The upper floor addition has large windows overlooking the Iowa River on one side and a golf course on the other. It also has a new master bedroom suite, kitchen, dining-greatroom area, and a formal living room.
