Every year, many families come to a point where they must decide
if they will move or improve. Simply put, should they move to another
home that has more space or has more of the features their family
needs or should they improve their existing home to better match
their lifestyle.
If your family is struggling with this decision, the Remodelors
Parade will help you envision what can be accomplished with a home
remodeling project. On Sept. 27 and 28, 12 local remodelors from
the Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association will showcase
home remodeling projects ranging from one room additions to whole
house renovations.
“It’s a great way to get ideas on what can be done on
your own home,” says Don Novak, of Novak Construction in Cedar
Rapids and 2003 chair of the HBA’s Remodelors Council.
“Several projects on this year’s parade include structural
changes that were made to the home,” says Joan Tiemeyer, executive
officer of the Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association.
“This can become a complex project and require detailed planning,”
Tiemeyer says. “Area remodelors are the experts and they are
ready to talk to you about your remodeling project.”
According to Tiemeyer, this year’s parade will feature a wide
range of projects, from whole house remodels to additions and renovations.
“Don’t miss the kitchen remodels,” she adds.
You can visit one or all twelve homes featured on the Remodelors
Parade. Tickets are $3 and are available at each home featured on
the
parade.
Novak notes that the Remodelors Parade is also a good way “to
scope out who some of the top contractors in the area are.”
“If you see something that piques your interest and you want
to talk to a builder more about your home remodeling project, you
can set up an appointment for them to come to your home,”
Novak says.
