You like your house and your neighborhood, but you’d like
to make some changes. A home remodeling project could be just what
you need to turn your current house into your dream home.
In order to help you envision the possibilities of what can be accomplished
with a home remodeling project, the Remodelors Council of the Greater
Iowa City Area Home Builders Association sponsors a Remodelors Parade
each fall. This year’s event will be held on Sept. 18 and
19, from noon until 4 p.m. Thirteen remodeling projects will be
featured on this year’s parade, ranging from one room additions
to whole house remodels.
“People who typically remodel a home have decided to stay
there,” says Barbara Messer of Kitchen & Bath
Distributing in Iowa City and 2004 chair of the Remodelors Council.
“There are a lot of people who want to keep their roots where
they are, whether their home is older or newer,” Messer says.
“Finding the right person to do their remodeling work is very
important,” Messer adds.
The Remodelors Parade provides the perfect opportunity to not only
visualize what can be done in the scope of a remodeling project
but also to meet with several top remodelors and get a feel for
their work.
“When picking a remodelor, you have to be comfortable with
the person, the price and the product,” Messer says. “The
Remodelors Parade can give you a general idea of (a contractor’s)
personality and their sense of style,” she says.
This year’s Remodelors Parade will feature a wide range of
projects, from whole house remodels to additions and renovations.
The homes featured are located in Iowa City, Coralville and University
Heights.
Tickets to visit just one or all thirteen homes featured on the
Remodelors Parade are $3 and are available at each home featured
on the parade.
