This
house was originally built in the 1970s and was in need of
some updating. In addition to gutting the downstairs and kitchen,
North Star Builders also remodeled the horse
barn in the backyard, took down at least 15 trees that were
overtaking the house and added on a 16’ x 20’
four-seasons room.
North Star Builders began the project by
framing in the four-seasons room, reroofing the house and
replacing all of the windows. They then added a bathroom downstairs
and gutted the kitchen, living room and original bathroom
upstairs. The two bathrooms and basement were tiled and rustic
hardwood floors were installed throughout the rest of the
house. New countertops, cabinets and hardware were also installed
as well as recessed lighting, new fixtures and ceiling fans.
A gas fireplace was added to the four-seasons room. Cement
board siding was installed and painted on the house and a
concrete floor was added to the barn along with a new paint
job.
A
1,050 sq. ft. exposed aggregate patio was added in the back
of the house as well as a three-tier retaining wall for landscaping.
This courtyard is sure to become a great location for entertaining
guests. At the front of the house, a
new porch was added. A 16’ x 16’ sandbox was also
added to the backyard for younger guests including the
homeowner’s grandchildren.
All in all, this project was a success and the homeowners
love their new retreat. By opening up the floor plan inside
the house and clearing away trees and correcting the drainage
outside, the homeowners have created a welcoming place to
gather with family and friends.
