Different
than the average home that is remodeled, this house is less
than fifteen years old. Yet, the formal floor plan did not
meet the needs of the homeowners. Because it did not match
the way they lived, a lot of space was unused. For example,
when the homeowners entertained, their guests congregated
in the kitchen. By reworking the kitchen space, guests will
now be able to easily move throughout the first floor of the
home.
As another example, the laundry/mud room area served as a
less-than-attractive pass-through room from the garage. After
remodeling, the mudroom has more than enough storage and the
laundry room has its own space including a
work/craft area.
The biggest challenge in the remodeling project involved removing
a twostory, load-bearing wall that stood between the kitchen
and dining room. The crew at Home Repair Team, Inc.
admits that this is not something that is frequently
done, yet, working with an architect, they completed the task,
and in
the process, completely transformed the home.
The
kitchen/dining areas now feature ceramic tile, granite countertops,
a large island stove, and a wet bar/sink with built-in cabinets.
And by incorporating the laundry room into a front office,
the family now can enjoy a larger and more
functional mudroom.
Now that the remodeling is complete, the family has seen some
extra benefits including more sunlight that now beams throughout
the home.
