Once
you start to open your mind to the possibilities of what you
can achieve with home remodeling, you’ll never look
at your house the same way again. That’s exactly what
happened to the owners of this 30-year-old home in Iowa City.
After living in the home for approximately ten years, they
remodeled the master bedroom and bathroom in 2003. This year,
they worked with the staff at Home Repair Team, Inc.
to bring new life, and function, to their kitchen, living
room and dining room.
The homeowners knew that they wanted new cabinets and countertops,
but were unsure of how else they could improve the look and
feel of their kitchen. Home Repair Team, Inc.
showed the family how they could reconfigure most of the first
floor living space, providing a more open living space.
The
wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed to expand
the kitchen. What had been a sitting room became the dining
room. The living room now shines with new built-in cabinets,
old paneling was replaced with drywall, and you’ll find
new hardwood floors throughout the kitchen and dining room.
By remodeling approximately 750 sq. ft. of the main living
space, this home has been completely renewed and revitalized.
Of course, moving original walls in a home is not a project
to be undertaken lightly. In fact, relocating the kitchen’s
plumbing proved to be quite a challenge. But with a steady
determination and attention to detail, Home Repair
Team, Inc. was able to rework the home to make this
house much more livable for years to come.
