The
goal of this remodeling project was to fix the flat roof by
replacing it. There had been some large areas of damage from
ice dams around the fireplace and the fascia. The homeowner
wanted to replace the roof with a pitched roof to prevent
any future problems. The roof replacement evolved into a total
renovation as the homeowner decided to change some things
inside the home as well.
After the roof was replaced, Krueger Construction
removed all of the exterior wall plaster, siding and windows.
They then added vaults and trays to the ceilings in several
rooms. After that, Koopman Insealators sprayed all of the
exterior walls and roof with a polyurethane insulation to
quiet the highway noise and make this 46-year-old home more
energy-efficient.

After the insulation was complete, Krueger Construction
rounded all the corners of the new drywall and added columns.
New tile floors were also installed using marble, granite
and ceramic tiles. The old metal cabinets in the kitchen were
replaced with knotty alder cabinets topped with granite countertops.
A 12’ x 12’ screened-in porch was added featuring
knotty pine V-grooved wallboards on the walls with beadboard
and crown molding on the ceiling.
The plan in this renovation was to bring the home up-to-date
and create new usable space throughout the main living areas.
What began as a roof replacement turned into a whole-house
transformation, bringing this house back to life.
