The
homeowners have lived in this home since it was built in 1986.
With their sons headed off to college, the homeowners were
ready to update their empty nest, starting with the kitchen.
Originally, the homeowners were interested only in replacing
an oak stairway handrail and the old wall oven. As they worked
with Chris Weckmann from Carpentry By Chris,
they quickly realized that they could redesign the entire
kitchen to increase both the storage capacity and the functional
counter space.
The appliances were original and coming to the end of their
intended life. In addition, the kitchen had a large bi-fold
closet that was originally designed as a laundry area, but
was being used as an inefficient pantry closet. This space
was
replaced with a new recessed area for the refrigerator with
space for a wine chiller and additional counter space.
Chris
and his crew worked side-by-side with the clients and several
local suppliers to build the family’s dream kitchen.
“I work closely with local companies like KBD and Randy’s
Carpets & Interiors because they give my clients very
complete showrooms to generate ideas from,” Chris says.
Carpentry By Chris supplied the client with
computer generated drawings that showed the floor plan and
elevation drawings for each wall in the proposed kitchen.
“These drawings allow us to discuss different aspects
of the plan
and revise the details as necessary,” Chris says.
From start to finish, the project was completed in four weeks,
just two days before Christmas, allowing the family to use,
and enjoy, their new kitchen on Christmas Day.
