Many Iowa City area homeowners are increasingly concerned with making their homes more accessible and comfortable. In this case, a bathroom remodel not only made the bathroom more luxurious, but also made it more safe and accessible at the same time.

Bea Day Plumbers worked with this homeowner to convert two 1960s-era bathrooms into one larger, more accessible bathroom utilizing universal design concepts.

This bathroom now includes a roll-in shower with grab bars and a handheld valve system, an ADA-approved comfort-height toilet and roll-under lavatory.

In addition, the doorways were widened, the windows were lowered and the cabinetry was relocated and redesigned to improve the function of the bathroom. A tiled floor was also installed for added water protection.
