As soon as the homeowners moved in last January, they began imagining changes to this house. Although the previous owners had done a rear addition to add a family room and an office, the house still seemed worn and clearly in need of some updating. The kitchen and bathrooms also felt small.

Lammers Construction began by ripping out the kitchen, which had not been updated in over 20 years. The new design expanded the kitchen footprint by recapturing space from a closet, a bathroom and the dining room. Old “cottage–style” cabinets were replaced with fresh new wooden ones and the old appliances were updated with modern, more efficient counterparts. An island was added to enhance the work area, and to offer an eat-in space. The project added a proper master bedroom/bathroom suite. A second story was added above the garage that adds at least a third more space to the master bedroom. The tiny master bathroom was turned into a walk-in closet and the new bathroom features a spacious shower, double vanity sinks and a soaking tub.

Bright colors run throughout the interior, giving the house a fresh, modern and whimsical feel. With these renovations, Lammers Construction transformed this staid 1929 colonial into a modern masterpiece.
