Aesthetically,
this home, built in 2000, had a plain interior with generic
builder finishes. The homeowners wanted to create a comfortable
living space that reflected their personal style. They also
needed a more efficient space for both cooking in the kitchen
and spending time together as a family.
Designing a kitchen is a delicate balance between functional
needs and aesthetic desires. “The color, size, shape
and layout of the cabinetry has a profound impact on the room,
but if you do not have enough cabinet space or an efficient
layout, then it doesn’t matter how good the space looks,”
says Chris Weckmann of Carpentry By Chris.
In order to create the look and feel that the homeowners desired,
Carpentry By Chris used a number of natural products including
slate and cherry flooring, rich oak cabinetry, and quartz
countertops.
Kitchen seating was increased by adding a large island and
a bar-height counter. Amenities included a glass tile backsplash,
sun tunnel skylights, and radiant floor heat which give the
space a finished and comfortable feel.
