You may be hearing
more about universal design in the news lately, home design
that incorporates features to make a home more handicapped-accessible,
allowing homeowners to plan for future needs.
These forward-thinking
homeowners decided to remodel their master bedroom and bathroom
with a universal design that would allow them to stay in
their beloved Iowa City home for years to come.
Lammers Construction
Service had previously worked with these homeowners and
featured this home on the 1998 Remodelers Parade. For this
project, they were asked to introduce universal design concepts
into the master suite, master bath and to create a walk-in
closet.
With the addition
of handicapped-accessible doorways and a remodeled bathroom
and walk-in closet, Lammers Construction helped these retirees
create an ADA compliant master bedroom suite that is as
beautiful as it is functional.
