Accounting and Administrative Assistant – Part Time – $20-$25 / hour D.O.E
Job Description
The Greater Iowa City Area Home Builder’s Association is looking for an Administrative Assistant to join our team. The Administrative Assistant works closely with the Executive Officer and will perform a variety of administrative and operational support functions for the HBA. As an Administrative Assistant you will need to be experienced in handling a wide range of administrative and executive support-related tasks and will be able to work independently while promoting the mission, vision, and values of the HBA.
Responsibilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Excel
- Proficient using QuickBooks Online and Desktop
- Reconciling accounts payable and accounts receivable balances with bank statements or other records to ensure that all transactions have been recorded accurately
- Processing bills by recording invoices received from suppliers or vendors on an accounting system database and submitting them to accounting staff for payment
- Preparing financial reports to track business performance over time, such as profit and loss statements and budgets
- Ensuring that accounting records are kept up to date by entering new transactions into the system and retrieving old records as needed
- Experience in recording financial transactions for organizations or individuals
- Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining organized records
- Manage the day-to-day operations of an office
- Organize, assist with, and attend meetings and events
Qualifications and Requirements
- College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience in office management and/or bookkeeping is desired
- Work in the office 20-30 hours per week. Hours will vary based on meetings and events. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be necessary during events. Approximately 4 events per year.
