Iowa City Area Home Builders Association Invites Kids to Enter its Lego Parade of Homes

The Iowa City Area HBA Lego Parade of Homes is back by popular demand! Kids aged 17 and younger are invited to summon their inner builder and enter to win prizes, courtesy of Locals Love Us – ICR! The event corresponds with The Iowa City Area HBA Parade of Homes, June 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 12.

Enter between May 9 and 5 p.m. May 20. Here’s how:

Step 1: Collect all your Legos.

Step 2: Build your home sweet home.

Step 3: Take photos of your creation.

Step 4: Enter your masterpiece at www.iowacityhomes.thegazette.com/lego-tour by following the prompts. Only first names will be used when publicizing entries. Don’t forget to include your creative description (e.g., number of bedrooms, colors, types of countertops, etc.).

Six Winners, Two Categories

Randy’s Flooring is sponsoring the competition and helping judge alongside representatives from Iowa City Area HBA Parade of Homes presenting co-sponsors Hills Bank and Urban Acres Real Estate. Top three winners in the categories of Building Excellence and Creative Description will be announced June 4 on Facebook @ICAreaHBAParadeofHomes and Instagram @icareahba. They receive:

1st Place Design – $50 Hobby Corner and Family Day Pass to the Iowa Children’s Museum

2nd Place Design – Family Day Pass to the Iowa Children’s Museum and $20 to Shakespeare’s

3rd Place Design – $20 Every Bloomin’ Thing

1st Place Description – $50 Hobby Corner and Family Day Pass to the Iowa Children’s Museum

2nd Place Description – $25 to LaRegia Taqueria and $20 Every Bloomin’ Thing

3rd Place Description – $20 Every Bloomin’ Thing

People’s Choice Voting

All entries will be featured on the Lego Parade of Homes website, www.iowacityhomes.thegazette.com/lego-tour, starting June 4. Viewers can vote for their favorites. The entry with most nods receives the Lego People’s Choice Award and a $50 Herteen & Stocker Jewelers gift card. So, be sure to share the link on social media with your friends and family!

“Everyone had so much fun with the Lego parade the last couple years that we decided to do it again,” said Iowa City Area President Melissa Schooley, Great Western Bank. “Kids are incredibly creative, and we’re eager to see 2022 entries.”
